Nimit Malavia – “Finding Together Again”
April 5th – 28th 2012
Spoke Art Gallery is proud to present “Finding Together Again,” a solo exhibition by artist and illustrator Nimit Malavia.
Conceptually, Malavia sees this show as “an exploration of some of the relationships essential to our growth and discovery” Collectively, this show conjures up emotions ranging from fear to lust, while simultaneously redefining the viewer’s worldview in one piece, only to have it all come together in his next. Full of contrast and surprises, “Finding Together Again” is one artist’s expression of the undefined energy found in the depths of hard to find places.
Drawing from a background in illustration, Nimit Malavia displays his masterful technique using the simple yet impactful medium of pencil and paper. He entices the viewer into worlds of reinterpreted myths and religious symbols; his drawings coming alive with raw emotion and wild movement. He is intrigued by the idea he dubs ‘Moments before crisis;’ still and intense moments before transformation. The energy in the scenes of his grandiose work is seen flowing around the subject and often bursting from within.
