Spoke Art is very proud to announce the first in our ongoing series of fine art prints with Dutch collage artist Handiedan. Fresh off her highly successful solo show at the esteemed Roq la Rue gallery, Handiedan has partnered up with Spoke Art once again to release two brand new fine art prints in conjunction with the SF art fairs this weekend (May 17th-20th.)

For our inagural release with Handiedan, Spoke Art wanted to offer a diverse range of her works to our fans and as such will be releasing a highly limited large format print (32″x40″, edition of 6, seen below) as well as a more general release (18″x21″ edition of 100, seen above.)

Any remaining prints left over from this weekends fairs will be made available in our online store on Friday, May 25th.

Spoke Art Gallery presents:
Scott Scheidly: “Portraits : a series of “fabulous” depictions of tyrants, dictators and popes”

On view May 17th – May 20th at the ArtPadSF fine art fair

Spoke Art Gallery is proud to announce the debut of Scott Scheidly’s “Portraits : a series of “fabulous” depictions of tyrants, dictators and popes” debuting this weekend at the fine art fair, ArtPadSF in San Francisco, CA.

Since debuting Scheidly’s first portrait in the series last year at ArtPadSF, Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco returns for a second year and an expanded continuation of Scheidly’s shocking, offensive, and utterly hilarious series of portraits.

From Hitler’s pink armband to Chairman Mao’s heart shaped glasses, Scheidly’s work casts some of history’s most notorious characters in a new light rife with suggestion and commentary on masculinity, power, and satire.

Unlike many contemporary artists working today, Scheidly’s work is not just provocative, but also technically well done. The artist’s use of oil on panel is brings to mind any number of Classical portrait painters and if it weren’t for the jarringly hot pink frames in which the paintings themselves reside, one could easily assume the work to be that of a traditional master.

For the debut of “Portraits : a series of “fabulous” depictions of tyrants, dictators and popes” Spoke Art gallery will be presenting three new oil on panel works featuring a Pope, a Chairman and a Soviet Premier.

Additionally, Spoke Art will also be debuting the first in a series of print editions of Scheidly’s work at the fair, starting with a fine art edition of the artist’s previous Hitler painting. This limited edition Hitler print measures 11” x 14”, comes in a custom painted hot pink frame, and is limited to a signed and numbered edition of 20.

If you would like to be placed on our collector’s preview for Scheidly’s “Portrait” paintings and limited edition print, please contact us immediately at spokeartgallery@gmail.com

More info on our participation at the SF fine art fairs can be found here.

Detail views and more information available on request.

After many months of meetings and emails, Spoke Art is proud to announce the debut of our official and exclusive partnership with the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco.

The Castro is one of the country’s grandest original “movie palaces,” originally built in the 1920s and lovingly restored to its original grandeur and beauty. Their cutting edge programming of classic and contemporary films has made the theatre a top destination for movie buffs and an ideal candidate for our partnership.

To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in the Spoke Art history, we will be releasing a brand new limited edition screen print by artist Joshua Budich on Friday, April 6th at the theatre to celebrate the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the De Young Museum of Fine Art.

Making this event even more special will be the release of not just a City of Lost Children print, but also an exclusive lobby card, which will be given away to the first 50 attendees of the night!

“City of Lost Children” will first be made available at the Friday night screening, and online the following Monday, April 9th at 3pm PST via the Spoke Art online store.

Get a look at the glow in the dark variant as well as the complimentary lobby card, below!

More info on the theatre can be found here.
