James Chapman

About the artist:

I'm Dr. James Chapman, an illustrator, based in Manchester, UK

I’ve written a number of books based around language and the different ways we all look at the same thing. Sounds All Around was published in 2020 and won a Nautilus Book Award for Children’s Non-Fiction. A follow-up called A World of Wisdom was published the following year.

When I’m not working digitally, I like to paint with POSCA pens in my sketchbook. I am currently painting as much as I can, and posting it all on Patreon.

I’ve worked extensively as a designer at for animation.

Previous shows I’ve worked on include, Eureka (Disney+), Ada Twist, Scientist (Netflix), Powerbirds (Universal Kids), Nella, the Princess Knight (Nickelodeon).

I have a PhD in Nanoscience from the University of Manchester, but it has so far not been very useful in my career as an artist.
