Sam Gilbey is a celebrated British illustrator whose richly detailed, painterly style has made him a prominent figure in contemporary pop culture art. Working at the intersection of fine art and digital illustration, Gilbey is best known for his expressive portraits and cinematic compositions that pay homage to the emotional power of film, television, and iconic characters. Over the past two decades, his work has appeared on everything from limited edition prints and book covers to large-scale commercial campaigns. His client list includes major global brands and studios such as Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Sony Pictures, BBC, and Adidas. 

Rooted in a background in Visual Arts and Music from Keele University, Gilbey’s practice is informed by a lifelong passion for storytelling and visual culture. His work has been showcased in over sixty group exhibitions, including curated shows themed around Marvel, Bob’s Burgers, and the films of Wes Anderson.

Notably, in 2023, he was commissioned by the BBC to create a nationwide billboard series for Glastonbury Festival, featuring dynamic portraits of artists such as Elton John and Arctic Monkeys.
